Application Process

Jazzgroove Records is a service available to members of the Jazzgroove Association. Membership is currently AU$40 per calender year; you can join here.

We currently release to a bi-monthly schedule, in sync with our bi-monthly program of performances in Sydney at the Surry Hills Excelsior. To proved adequate lead time we will program these releases from 3 to 9 months in advance.

We ask that artist interested in releasing their album through Jazzgroove Records contact our Artistic Directors John Hibbard and Matt Ottignon on -ad@jazzgroove.com- and submit an application. Criteria assessed include the suitability of the recording to serve the aim of Jazzgroove Records, artistic merit, production quality, the originality of the material and it's aesthetic relevance to the existing Jazzgroove catalogue. Other circumstances that may be considered include the artists' marketing plan, experience and any time-sensitive factors such as touring or media commitments.

The aim of Jazzgroove Records is to expand worldwide distribution and awareness of original Jazzgroove music happening here in Australia. We operate on a model that returns a much larger proportion of income to artists than many labels; we are an operation of the Jazzgroove Association, a non-profit organisation.

Jazzgroove Records do not produce albums; artists' are expected to budget their own release, although we can cover some recoupable expenses such as launch publicity. Our agreement with artists excludes publishing and copyright and refers to distribution and licensing of the whole or any part of the individual album release only.
