Tuesday June 3rd

8:30pm - JIM KELLY plus MATT SMITH - GUITAR DUO
Renowned guitarist Jim Kelly has embraced acoustic instruments over the last 6 years and along with Matt Smith (electric guitar) will be performing a repertoire of Jim's compositions peppered with the flavours of  Brazil, Spain and Jim's own quirkiness.  Lotsa space is left for improvising and the duo's motto is ONWARDS & SIDEWAYS.

10pm - Kristin Berardi Band
Kristin Berardi - vocals
Mike Nock - keys
James Muller - guitar
Mike Majkowski - double bass
Cameron Reid - drums.

3 generations of Australian improvising musicians.

Jon Rose - violins
Chris Abrahams - piano and keyboard
Mike Majkowski - double bass

ARTERY features 3 generations of Australian improvisers in a group put
together by Jon Rose when he returned to Australia in 2003.
"The lunatics are taking over the conservatory. Imagine if history had thrown
Jazz the violin, harpsichord and forte piano instead of saxophones and the
frontal attack piano. Here's what you might have got. It's all exuberant
stuff... Rose is a thorough original".
The Wire

10pm - Showa 44
Carl Dewhurst – Electric Guitar
Simon Barker – Drums

“Showa 44 delivered a sonic tour de force ... Combining ambient sounds with ear-splitting electronics, the duo carved out an adventuresome route through the world of sound.  Barker set up repetitive motifs via the use of gongs, as if he were gently throwing pebbles into a lake, while Dewhurst attacked his guitar like a latter-day Derek Bailey.  This was jazz in extremis, melding the experiments of English stalwarts AMM with the force-field energy of a Sonic Youth”  Rhythms Magazine, Dec 2008

Tuesday June 17th

8:30pm - The Denominators
Dave "1/4" Jackson - Alto Sax
Hugh "the half" Barrett - Piano
Brendan/Clarke - Bass
3/16 of a Derricott (Paul) - Drums.

The Denominators are the latest incarnation to spring from the well of the Sydney jazz scene. Featuring new compositions from all members of the band (including the drummer!) don't miss the world premier of this exciting new outfit.

10pm - Informal Troupe
Matthew Ottignon - sax
Dave Symes - bass
Hamish Stuart - drums

Time moves on. We all get a bit older. Music evolves. Jazzgroove
artists Informal Troupe have seen a year go by since their debut
release 'Urban Parkland'. New government, new petrol prices, new
underwear, new music.
"...innately bursting with forward momentum."  - J.Shand, SMH

Tuesday June 24th
